Yummy Bread Balls

Ladies and gentilmen! This recipe is going to be a kind of recycle in the kitchen:)
Okey let me have some statements about the statistics of food waste and the huge amount of food going to the garbage each and every day before I give the recipe
805 million people all around the world (11.3% of the world population and 13.5% of the population in developing countries) are having difficulty to find enough aliment to live healthy and some (around 10 million) doesn't have even to survive...
Yet there is a huge waste in food, approximately 1,3 million tonne of food going to the garbage each year!

This means the amount of wasting cost 1Billion American Dollar to economy!

Thinking all these issues, I wanted to share a recycling recipe of stale breads! Yeap get some eatable old bread and be ready for a yummy meal;)
Ingredients:
ekmek mantısı1
  • Overleft bread (like half of a loaf or less, just enough to make a good, firming bread balls when mixed with other ingredients)
  • 1 egg
  • 50 g minced beef
  • 1 medium size onion
  • Some parsley (up to how much you want, I prefer to add a lot of parsley)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt

  • Just little bit of black pepper
  • Little bit of cumin
Sauce:
  • 1 cup of Yoğurt
  • 2 clove garlic
  • A pinch of dried mint
  • A pinch of red pepper
  • Oil to fry
Let's start:
  • Get the bread in blender
  • Add grated onion, chopped parsleys, spices, salt and eggs together with ground bread into a mixing bowl
  • Knead them all well
  • Make walnut size balls from this mixture
  • Fry the balls in a pan
  • Get them on a paper towel just not to be too oily
  • Chop the garlic, mix with yogurt and dried mint
  • Pour the yogurt mixture on balls (When the balls are not hot but warm)
  • Fry some butter with red pepper chillies and decorate the whole meal with some red color if you wish!
Bon Apetitte!
